Lee Mortimer

Never one to overlook new and upcoming talent, Ministry of Sound has now invited Lee to join our already impressive line up of Saturday sessions residents.
One name that has been monopolizing journalist notepads and DJ record boxes for the past year is definitely Lee Mortimer, steadily making waves with his productions and DJ sets, taking every opportunity to supply ears with exciting, sleaze-filled fidget house.

Making his residency debut on Saturday 23rd August, Lee steps up to join not only the finest DJs on the scene but a roster of the most acclaimed and influential house music makers!!

Having started with the humble Commodore Amiga before he was even a teenager, Lee has now firmly established himself as a top-notch recording artist and has had tracks and remixes on CR2, Front Room Recordings, Jusin Long’s .dotbleep Recordings, Chris Duckenfield’s Odori, Aquasky's Passenger Records and many more. Dave Taylor's Dubsided Records have recently knocked on the door too and an EP is now in the pipeline.

Now concentrating his efforts into his own label, Wearhouse Music, Lee has come into his own with his production creativity and A&R skills with all tracks getting majorly caned!

We look forward to bringing in a fresh faced, nu skool style of mixing, performance and above all attitude!

In his own words...

'I was honoured to just be considered for Ministry's new resident, but when I actually got it I was over the moon. First of all it felt like I'd won the Lottery but then I thought that's the wrong analogy as it's more like winning The Apprentice! The interview is over but the hard work (and fun!) begins now.

The first dance music CD I ever bought was a Ministry of Sound Sessions CD and 15 years ago so to think now I'll be playing there each month is amazing. I'm really looking forward to putting across my sound and shaping part of the music at one of the most renowned clubs in the world.

Fidget house is what I'm all about! The kind of music that was pioneered by artists like Switch, Trevor Loveys and Jesse Rose. Deep down it's about having fun and getting people moving and smiling on the dancefloor. You'll hear lots of filthy basslines and rawkus beats. The whole ethos of Fidget for me is that you never really know what's going to happen next, so you better be on your toes. I'm always looking out for new and innovative sounds in the tunes I play and the tracks I make in order to keep things fresh'
