Catering by Canapeum Events

Ministry of Sound (MoS) went through an extensive refurbishment in the spring of 2006 and the in house events team wanted to show the venue in its many different function styles and also saw it as a great chance to showcase some of the suppliers that help to make each event at MoS special and memorable. Catering was provided by Canapeum Events who at the time had been recently voted 2nd in RSVPs catering awards, furniture by Charters Hire, Entertainment and hostesses by Atmosphere Entertainment, Flowers by Old Acre florists, Photography by MPP Image creation and name badges by Out Stand.

The venue’s 5 very distinctive and different rooms were all set up to show what the venue can be used for on corporate events, as most guests will only have seen it as a nightclub with people dancing. As the venue is large and its quite easy to go through the night without seeing all the rooms, different themes and catering options were chosen to encourage people to explore and discover the whole venue. The Box (the main and largest room of the venue) was set up half and half to show Banqueting (220 max) and conferences (250 max) can be achieved whilst also showing off the venue’s state of the art multimedia capabilities. Canapé size three course meals were designed to keep the banqueting theme going. The Main Bar featured aerial artists and dancers to really show how a party can be made exciting. Themed hostesses walked around a mixture of hot and cold canapés. The Lounge Bar with its ever impressive chandelier lighting up the room consisted of Champagne and strawberries enticing the people in to have a look around.

The newly created VIP room was transformed into the Sushi and Vodka room fitting in with the VIPs contemporary feel. The baby box is the chill out area and no where better to sit and drink free flowing cocktails on the large leather bed.

As guests entered the venue they were encourage to leave their business cards to win an all expenses paid night at the club for 4 guests and this was drawn just before the last hour of the event when the music was turned up and a Christmas party atmosphere was created.

The evening acted as a platform for the 2006 and 2007 corporate marketing campaigns and hopefully the perception of MoS only been a nightclub has been eradicated. Evidence of this was clear to see when the club was fully booked everyday in December for corporate Christmas parties including; Skype, Lastminute.com, Synovate, EDF Energy, Soutwark Council, Hudson Recruitment, Topshop. The biggest highlight of the year was when the venue hosted the David Beckham Football Academy Corporate Cup After Party featuring an array of celebrities and on the night raising over £130,000 for David’s charity; The Shine Foundation.

In December 2006 Ministry of Sound was voted as the RSVP magazine 15th Best corporate venue of 2006. What a start to corporate hire, with 2007 looking like it will continue in the same way 2006 ended.
